"Educating the Future" with the UConn Real Estate Society

What an exciting day it was on the University of Connecticut campus this April, as Chapter President, Stephanie Coleman, CCIM, had the honor of speaking to the UConn Real Estate Society. Back in November, when the group first extended the invitation to speak at their April meeting, little did we know that would end up taking place at the same time as the UConn Women's Basketball National Championship Victory Rally, right across from the School of Business at Gampel Pavilion. The energy on campus was electric—a fitting backdrop to a truly inspiring event.

Stephanie had the privilege of addressing a group of bright, inquisitive students who were eager to dive into the world of commercial real estate. Her talk covered key aspects of the industry, including the role of a commercial real estate broker, the comprehensive education offered by the CCIM curriculum, and the wide range of career opportunities available in CRE.

The students, led by RES leadership Trevor Mahabir, Joseph McElwee, and Dan Gaudet, brought thoughtful and insightful questions to the table, demonstrating their genuine interest in learning from an experienced professional. Stephanie’s depth of knowledge and willingness to share her journey left a strong impression, and the dialogue sparked by the students’ curiosity made for an engaging and rewarding session.

We at CT CCIM are grateful for opportunities like these to connect with the next generation of CRE professionals. It aligns perfectly with our Chapter's theme of "Educating the Future".  Encouraging and mentoring young talent is crucial for the future of our industry, and it was a pleasure to see so much enthusiasm and potential among these students.

To the UConn Real Estate Society, thank you for hosting us, and to all the students who participated—keep asking great questions, seeking knowledge, and aiming high. The future of commercial real estate is bright with leaders like you stepping up!

Here’s to more inspiring collaborations and, of course, more championship wins for UConn! Go Huskies! 🏀🎉
